How-To Guide
🐮Tag Installation
When receiving box(s) of tags, confirm you have received full amount and that tags have been delivered in good shape, along with Information card, list of tags.
For best practice, the tags should be placed in the middle of the ear closer to the head, between the two cartilage ribs, avoiding blood vessels. If there is no space, it is recommended to move an existing tag further out on the ear and put Smart Paddock tag closer in, reusing the existing hole. For the best solar performance and most consistent connection/GPS reporting you need to install the tag on the back of the ear so the solar panel is facing up to the sky (so the male button/pin will be on the inside of the ear).
Ensure you have an applicator, pen and the list of tags. It is suggested one person pick out a tag from the box, locate the corresponding number, and pass this to the second person who is doing the tagging. Coordinate the name of the cow with the serial number of the tag on the paper and write these down.
When applying the tag, ensure the ear is disinfected and begin positioning the applicator over the desired spot on the ear.
Squeeze the applicator firmly and quickly to insert the tag through the ear.
Ensure the tag is securely in place and check for any signs of incorrect placement or injury.
Tips for best practices in tag health
Work in a calm environment; try to keep the environment calm to reduce the stress for the animal
Regular checks; periodically check the tags to ensure they are still readable and securely attached. Replace any lost or damaged tags promptly

Best Practice for Companion App Compared to Pulse Dashboard
The Pulse dashboard is intended to be used on a desktop/laptop screen. Though can be used on a tablet.
Pulse is intended to source deeper analysis and data to understand patterns, when and why things have occurred. Users can see movement over time, heat maps, activity spectrums and more in detail compared to the Companion app.
The Companion App was built with intention for utilisation in the field, where customers can be on the ground, matching what they see in front of them, to what is portrayed on the mobile in hand.
The Companion App is also for mobile alerts regardless of where you are.
